Low Hall Park Local Nature Reserve,  spans the border between Platt Bridge and Hindley, it is a patchwork of woodland, wetland and rough grassland.

It is close to the two reserves of Borsdane Wood and Wigan Flashes. The watercourse, woodlands and grasslands host on site a good  variety of birds and you'd be very unlucky not to see or hear a variety of those when visiting the site. Local Nature Reserve designation will not only protect and enhance their habitats, but will provide an opportunity for the people of Platt Bridge and Hindley to get involved in its running.

Low Hall Park Local Nature Reserve Group (Flow) were awarded The Best Environmental / Biodiversity Project for transforming the once rubbish strewn site in Hindley into a haven for wildlife.

It's a remarkable transformation for a site which was once used as a slag heap by local collieries at Low Hall, Grange and Strangeways.
